Birds - What are they about ?

Hello,

Why do we have birds ? I don't see what use they are, except maybe for spreading plant seeds around. They fly around doing nothing all day long. Why do they do that ? They don't need to do it. I think They are just showing off. "OOOHH, look at me, I can fly and you can't."
